The Costalegre Experience

What a stay on this coast is actually like

The Costalegre is the stretch of Jalisco coast running south from Puerto Vallarta — a chain of small bays, headlands and private estates rather than a resort strip. Costa Careyes and Las Rosadas are residential communities set into the hills above their own beaches, with controlled access and very little passing traffic. Development is deliberately sparse, and that is the point.

Puerto Vallarta at the northern end is the opposite in character: a working city with a restaurant scene, an international airport and villas stacked into the hillsides of Conchas Chinas, Amapas and the South Shore, most of them a short drive from town.

What the two ends share is how the villas work. These are private homes with their own staff — housekeeping, and often a cook, a caretaker and concierge planning — rather than hotel suites. Which coast suits you usually comes down to whether you want a town within reach, or want the road to end at your gate.

Common Questions

Costalegre villa FAQs

How do I book a villa?

Send your dates, group size, and priorities. A specialist shortlists villas that fit and confirms availability, rates, and inclusions before you commit — booked direct with the villa team.

Which airport should we fly into?

Puerto Vallarta (PVR) and Manzanillo (ZLO) both serve this coast, and which one is closer depends on whether your villa sits nearer Puerto Vallarta or further south toward Costa Careyes and Las Rosadas. We confirm the right airport for the villa you choose and arrange the ground transfer.

When is the best time to visit the Costalegre?

The dry season runs roughly November through May, and it is also the busiest — holiday weeks book furthest ahead and carry the longest minimum stays. The summer and early autumn months are greener, quieter and warmer, with a higher chance of rain.

Do you charge platform or booking fees?

No. You book direct — there are no marketplace markups or platform fees.

What is included — staff, chef, housekeeping?

It varies by villa. Many include housekeeping and staff; chef service may be included or arranged on request. We confirm inclusions before booking.
